Ramy

Ramy Youssef won a Golden Globe award and Emmy nominations for his semi-autobiographical show, Ramy, on Hulu. The story of a first-generation Egyptian-American trying to figure out where he fits between two vastly-different cultures, Ramy finds humor in the clash. Our main title for the show does, too.

In Two Worlds

Ramy Youssef won a Golden Globe award and Emmy nominations for his semi-autobiographical show Ramy on Hulu. The story of a first-generation Egyptian-American trying to figure out where he fits between two vastly-different cultures, Ramy finds humor in the clash.

Our main title for the show does too.

Simple, bold, graphic, it’s a tale told in two types: Compared with the straight-sided blockishness of the English alphabet, the Arabic script used to write colloquial Egyptian is a flowing dance. Putting the two on the screen together provides fantastic contrast—the perfect metaphor for the show.

Spelling that out in multiples, we fill the screen with white, blue, black and red Ramy’s set to a fast-track of Egyptian music. The feel is old-school filmic and modern-day fun.

Apple x Sarofsky x Ramy

Apple asked Sarofsky’s Erin Sarofsky and Duarte Elvas to give a hands-on demonstration exploring the creation of main titles at its flagship store in Chicago. They wanted our team to share insights with the community on how main titles come to life. They also asked the duo to lead a workshop in which total novices would have the chance to experiment. We used our RAMY titles to inspire creativity in that workshop.
