Zevia Kids

What does it taste like? How does it smell? How does it make you feel? If you really want to know, just ask a kid. That’s what we did for the adorable spots we created for Haberman’s Zevia Kidz campaign, launching a line of zero-sugar fizzy drinks.

Working With Kidz

What does it taste like? How does it smell? How does it make you feel? If you really want to know, just ask a kid. That’s what we did for the adorable spots we created for Haberman’s Zevia Kidz campaign, launching a line of zero-sugar fizzy drinks.  The responses director Erin Sarofsky got from the young on-screen talents as they tasted the products for the very first time, are open, honest and hilarious.

“How do you think they got the bubbles in the drink?” yielded fantastic notions inventive enough to make Rube Goldberg proud.

Or, “If you could get Zevia to make one more flavor, what would it be?”

“Taco,” one child cheerfully decided.

Ads typically produced for the packaged goods category can feel over-produced and uber- idealized. So it was refreshing to collaborate with Haberman on something so authentic.

With the live-action footage captured, our campaign editor Tom Pastorelle sequenced the best moments. We had a blast adding little bits of illustrated, animated graphics punctuating what the kids said and did.

In the finished spots, a giggling redhead tells us he’s never opened a can before. A curly-topped boy spells “fizzy” with a zillion extra ‘z’s. Siblings vie for sips of each other’s drinks. Bubbles pop, flavors line up, and cans are clinked. Underscoring the client’s zero-sugar, nothing artificial message, we finish with a wave of a magic wand and type that lets viewers know the product is, “everything you wished for.”

“I was really excited to cast and work directly with kids for this campaign. It was so much fun capturing their interactions with the product. The stuff they said and did, their expressions, their genuine delight—you couldn’t have scripted any of that.”
